Last night we made sushi. We bought the sticky rice from an Asian store in Kampala. I brought some seaweed paper from US. The avacados, onion, carrots and fried sweet potatoes are from here. Delicious!!

He sends comfort
I was feeling discouraged last week. I had been working on a project for nearly a month, solid. I had put a lot of work into it. But since there are a lot of deciding committees and there are multiple layers of management above me–somehow in the upper echelons of power something was decided and my immediateContinue reading “He sends comfort”
Chicken Luwombo
Pictured below is some of the most delicious chicken I have ever eaten: Chicken Luwombo. It takes forever to make, so people make it for special occasions. The chicken is cooked over a charcoal fire, inside a shaped pocket of banana leaves. It is incredibly savory. The flavor is partially attributed to the banana leavesContinue reading “Chicken Luwombo”
The maid I can’t communicate with yet.
Stephen hired her a long time ago before I even arrived on the scene. In general maids are at the bottom of the social order. It sounds like a fabled privilege to have such a luxury. IContinue reading “Getting to Working”

This video is a much too longContinue reading “Mission 2021”
Fantastic views
I usually get fantastic views in the evening or in morning sunrises. Likely, I have these at home in US also,I just don’t see them because I don’t have to go outside to visit the kitchen or the bathroom.
Bush children live differently.
This morning my daughters insisted on making their breakfast on an open fire. The matches used were a few too many. But that’s the trade off for a learning experience. What is she doing in the photo? Blowing the ash back into flame.
My everyday oxymoron.
So it’s really kind of bizarre to be as average and as unassuming as I like to because of the opportunities and the socioeconomic strata that I am classified in, a government in this current world considers me as a part of their threat category. I’m a pacifist as anyone comes. So is my husband.Continue reading “My everyday oxymoron.”
